Graduated from the Faculty of Commerce and Management, Hitotsubashi University, completed an MBA from IMEDE in Switzerland (now IMD) as well as a DBA from Case Western Reserve University in the USA. After working for the Boston Consulting Group, he joined as a founding partner in the establishment of Corporate Direction (CDI) in 1986, and has served as Senior Vice President and Office Manager of CDI in the United States. He has 15 years of experience as a management consultant. After earning his degree qualifications, he became a partner (Board Practice) at Hydrick & Stragl, one of the world's largest executive search companies. He is involved in corporate governance reforms in Japan. In 2002, he became a faculty member of the “Pharmaceutical Bbusiness Innovation Course” at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and in 2004 he was appointed Professor & General Manager of the Commercialization Promotion Department at the University of Tokyo. From 2004 to 2013 he was an Auditor at UTEC (The University of Tokyo Edge Capital) Co., Ltd. He has been in his current role since April, 2013. He is involved in supporting university-based ventures and student-based ventures (incubation, mentoring, start-up consultation, etc.), as well as student entrepreneur education, researcher innovation human resource development education, and developing large-scale joint research with companies. He is the Japan Venture Society Vice President and Director, and in 2015 he was awarded the Japan Venture Society 1st Shuichi Matsuda Award (2015). He has liked machines since childhood and studied at the Department of Mechanical Information Engineering at the University of Tokyo. At the university, he entered a club called the University of Tokyo Formula Factory, which makes small one-person formula cars, and he designed and built cars during the summers of his first and second years of university.Desire to recreate an autonomous vehicle as a third-year project, he developed an autonomous driving car with a camera on the radio control. At that time, he was impressed by the ability to learn human driving with machine learning, leading him to major in machine learning at graduate school.During graduate school, he interned at ZMP, freee, and Afri-inc, working extensively on machine learning and web development, as well as interning in Africa.Sensing a gap between university research and social implementation, he studied abroad at the Technical University of Munich in Germany to learn about innovation management. After returning to Japan, he visited leading Japanese academics, learned about the field of quantum computing (for which there is a strong demand for social implementation of university seed technology), and he founded QunaSys in February, 2018. At QunaSys, he works on many joint research projects with large companies while developing software for quantum computers.
